STAYING @ MAXWELL
ARE PETS ALLOWED?
We have a select set of rooms where dogs under 50lbs are welcomed as guests of Maxwell Mansion. A $55 per night fee applies and includes some treats, a collapsable take-home water bowl, and a dog toy for your loved one. Please call us at 262-248-9711 as soon as possible to ensure you are in a dog-friendly room and your reservation is noted. We ask that all other pets stay with other loved ones or house-sit while you are staying at Maxwell. Emotional support animals are required to pay the per night pet fee as they are not covered under the Lodging Regulations of the American Disability Act. The fee is waived for services covered under the American Disability Act only; for more details, visit our Policies & Amenities page.
WHEN ARE CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT?
Check-in begins at 4 p.m., and check-out is by 11 a.m. Based on availability, a limited number of early arrivals and late departures may be available each day for a fee. Contact Guest Services at 262-248-9711 to inquire about availability.
Are Children Allowed?
Our owners love children, and their daughter is often on the property, but the design and layout of our property are not conducive to families with children. As our property features two craft cocktail bars, we require all overnight guests to be 21 years or older unless prior arrangements have been made and granted in writing by one of our management team members. We commonly allow children on the property during special events such as weddings.
How far is it to downtown and the lake?
We love our location as we are within walking distance of the lake, shops, restaurants, and so much more! The lake is approximately 2 blocks west of Maxwell Mansion. Main Street and the downtown corridor are approximately 2.5 blocks northwest of the Mansion.

About Maxwell
Who are the owners?
Luke and Monica Pfeifer are proud natives of Wisconsin. Both graduated from Lakeland University (formerly Lakeland College) with degrees in Hospitality Management. We have over 30 years of hospitality experience, ranging from operations to sales to technology roles. In Wisconsin, we have worked at properties including Holiday Inn Express and Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan, and Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan. The Mansion is a historic building, are there any plans to change this?
One of the things we loved most about this property is its unique character. We see Maxwell as a hidden gem in Lake Geneva and Wisconsin. We intend to embrace the history of the Mansion built in 1856 and support that with a thriving business providing hospitality for visitors and locals alike. We currently do not have any plans to do significant alterations to the building.
WHAT IS MAXWELL MANSION?
Maxwell Mansion is so much more than the Mansion building itself. The property encompasses about 1.5 acres and includes 28 guest rooms between three buildings. The Mansion building hosts 6 guest rooms, 2 bars, a ballroom, and our guest services team. The grounds feature many areas to sit and relax, hold an event for your special day, or a corporate retreat. During the summer months, an outdoor heated pool is available to cool off and kick back and relax.
Are the bars and Grounds open to the public?
Yes. Many locals don’t realize it is open to the public today! Our two bars (The Apothecary and The Speakeasy) on the property are open to the public, inviting travelers and locals alike to enjoy the experience. At times the bars may be closed for special events; check our website calendar or Facebook page for the latest information.
IS Food Offered?
We are pleased to offer a selection of light bites, including flatbreads and charcuteries. Order from one of our staff members in the Apothecary, Speakeasy, or at Guest Services.
DO YOU HOST LIVE MUSIC AND entertainment?
Absolutely. We host various events for our hotel guests and the local community. Please visit our website or social media calendars for our latest events.
Does Maxwell offer Donations for charity events?
